How to Install Star UML on UBUNTU?

StarUML is an open source software modeling tool that supports UML (Unified Modeling Language). It is based on UML version 1.4, provides eleven different types of diagram and it accepts UML 2.0 notation. It actively supports the MDA (Model Driven Architecture) approach by supporting the UML profile concept and allowing to generate code for multiple languages. Star UML V2 is not open source but V1 is open source but this project i no more maintained. So you will get the minimum functionality.

Steps:

1. Download Star UML package form here .

Now the downloaded version is .deb file. We cannot directly installed the .deb package in Ubuntu because the .deb package may not be in Ubuntu's repositories, so you may need to install it manually.

Object-Oriented Modeling and Design

It is a new way of thinking about problems using models based on real world concepts. The basic construct is object which combines both data structure and behaviour in a single entity. The Object Modelling Technique (OMT) which extends from analysis through design to implementation.

  • Analysis model is built to abstract essential aspects of application domain which contains objects found in application, their properties and behaviour.
  • Then design model is made to describe and optimise the implementation.
  • Finally the design model is implemented in a programming language, database or hardware.
  • Graphical notation is used for expressing object-oriented models.

Understanding SCRUM

Scrum is an iterative and incremental agile software development methodology for managing product development. It defines "a flexible, holistic product development strategy where a development team works as a unit to reach a common goal", challenges assumptions of the "traditional, sequential approach" to product development, and enables teams to self-organize by encouraging physical co-location or close online collaboration of all team members, as well as daily face-to-face communication among all team members and disciplines in the project.

A key principle of scrum is its recognition that during a project the customers can change their minds about what they want and need (often called "requirements churn"), and that unpredicted challenges cannot be easily addressed in a traditional predictive or planned manner. As such, scrum adopts an empirical approach—accepting that the problem cannot be fully understood or defined, focusing instead on maximizing the team's ability to deliver quickly and respond to emerging requirements.

Understand the background and driving forces for taking an Agile Approach to Software Development

Agile software development is a group of software development methods in which requirements and solutions evolve through collaboration between self-organizing, cross- functional teams. It promotes adaptive planning, evolutionary development, early delivery, continuous improvement, and encourages rapid and flexible response to change.

The Manifesto for Agile Software Development, also known as the Agile Manifesto, first introduced the term agile in the context of software development in 2001.

Why Low Code or No Code Platforms?

Now a days the demand of low code platforms are increasing where the developer has to write less code and use drag and drops more. Fast software delivery is crucial to meet the project deadlines. Here are the reasons why the software delivery is failing.

  • Projects take too long.
  • Processes are inflexible.
  • Change is to expensive and slow.
  • Talents are out of date.

So to meet the fast software delivery needs the use of Low Code Platforms in the most of the IT enterprises is must. These are the reason to use low code platforms.
